Anna-Kajsa Holmberg
Anna-Kajsa Holmberg born in Stockholm, studied at the Odense Music Consevatory in Denmark and is currently living in Malmo, Sweden.
After finishing her diploma in Odense, she went on to in-depth study of the Bel Canto tradition in Milano with Sonia Turchetta, professor at the Conservatorio G Verdi.
Then followed studies with Philip Doghan, professor at the Royal Acdemy of Music, London, and later with Karin Mang Habashi in Sweden.
Anna-Kajsa’s father is a film director, and during her youth, she followed his work closely and acted in many of his film productions.
After a long time of studies, her dual interset in singing and acting has melted together and led her path to opera.
A number of master classes with Nadine George, founder of Voice Studio International and teacher at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music, have been very formative in her development.
Ms George’s voice teaching, mostly in Shakespeare drama, has proven to have a profound influence on her dramatic expression and stage presence as well as voice handling and technique.
The encounter with Ms George led to an engagements with the Copenhagen based theater company “Det Fortællende Teater” where she created a leading role in a “story-telling opera”.
In this project Anna-Kajsa had the possibility to unite her roots in Swedish folk music tradition with the full scope and potential of the operatic voice.
The same can be said about the cooperation with the Italian ensemble Samsingen in which free improvisation plays an important part.
Furthermore she has worked for the ensemble Corona La Balance, which founded by the Danish Cultural Department has staged a number of well received productions. Anna-Kajsa gained enthusiastic reviews when the ensemble performed at one of the stages of The Royal Opera of Copenhagen.
Anna-Kajsa has made many recitals and concert performances with a number of orchestras and chamber groups in Sweden and Denmark.
During the period 2011-2014 Anna-Kajsa has been, apart from working free-lance as soloist, employed in a great number of productions in the chorus of The Royal Opera, Copenhagen.
In the summer of 2014 she makes her role debut as Emilia in Verdi’s Otello in Opera på Skäret, Sweden.
