Gianni Lenoci
Pianist, composer , teacher, he studied improvissation with Mal Waldron and Paul Bley.
Brilliantly graduated at "S. Cecilia" conservatory in Rome and in electronic music at "N. Piccompetitioninni" conservatory in Bari, he is also graduated in Experimental second level piano with a thesis on Morton Feldman's piano works.
In 1993 Lenoci was finalist at "European Jazz Competition" in Leverkusen (Germany) and in 1996 he winned "Achantes Fondation" prize in Paris.
He performs extensively as soloist, with jazz combos and experimentatl units, with renowed players in both jazz and improvised music fields.
Among the others: Massimo Urbani, Steve Lacy, Joelle Leandre, Steve Grossman, Harold Land, Bob Mover, Enrico Rava, Glenn Ferris,Eugenio Colombo, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Don Moye, Han Bennink, Antonello Salis, Carlo Actis Dato, David Gross, Stephen Heckel, Paul Lovens, Sakis Papadimitriou,Georgia Sylleou, Jean-Jacques Avenel, John Betsch,Markus Stockhausen,Steve Potts, Carlos Zingaro,John Tchicai, Kent Carter.
He also perforrms with contemporary dancers, multi-media artists and poets.
Lenoci is composer and performer of experimental notated and improvsed operas (both acoustical and electronic) with a particular attention to authors like Feldman, Cage, Earle Brown, Sylvano Bussotti and in the complete keyboard work s of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Since 1990 is teaching Performance, Improvisation & composition in jazz and contemporary music classes at "Nino Rota" Conservatory in Monopoli (Italy) and is visiting professor at Bucharest University, Corfu University and Royal Northern College of Manchester, Conservatorio Superior de Malaga, Franz Liszt Hochschule in Weimar, Conservatorio Superior de Madrid.
He extensively toured in clubs, concert halls and festivals in Italy, France, England, Romania, Hungaria, Albania, Argentina, USA, Turkey, Canada, Greece.
His works have been published on Splasc(h), Modern Times, ASC, ANT, Leo, afk, sentemo, vm-ada, DAME (Ambiances Magnetique), VEL NET, Soul Note, Amirani.
